Our "help" is Flawed

 Let's talk about how my mom made around $18,000 in income in 2021, and she was just told by a grant funded organization that she does not qualify for financial assistance for medical treatment. She has rent, medications, fuel, electricity, water/sewage, and food all coming out of her income every month, and is left with nothing afterwards every month, but she doesn't qualify for assistance.... WHAT??? This is a huge gap! She doesn't qualify for Medicaid because her "mental health is managed", yet she can't keep a job due to her mental state. Help me understand!?! A judge spoke with her by phone without any information from anyone involved in her care, including myself... no video, just a phone call, and determined she's not eligible for Medicaid???? This is insanity! Now, we have to completely start over to see if she can get another court date to maybe get approved. She was on disability for her mental health for over 20 years, received a settlement, and was kicked off, and now they won't approve her? This is completely flawed. If this is happening to her, I can only imagine what is happening to people who have no help or understanding of where to even begin this process...

She needs a mammogram for a lump in her breast, lab work, and potential treatment or other diagnostic testing to determine what is going on and doesn't qualify for government assistance, and can't afford insurance.... We are in 2022, and still do not help those who cannot help themselves. It's an absolute shame.
